In 1999, ZF Marine took the strategic decision to expand the product portfolio to include controllable and fixed pitch propellers. In year 2000 the CPP design company Piening Marine Tecnic was purchased and a Joint Venture was established with the propeller manufacturer, Faster Propulsion System, later to become a wholly owned ZF Marine company, ZF Faster Propulsion System Co.Ltd.
